My Students

My sixth-grade students are creative and curious! They are a group of readers, always eager to discover new books, new characters, and new lands. My sixth graders are explorers. They are always looking forward to the next big thing.

My students thrive off of hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to bring real-life connections into the classroom.

They are a wonderful group of scholars who impress me each day. I am excited to be on their educational adventure with them.

My Project

My classroom library is a place that is treasured by my students. I see their eyes light up as they peruse the book selection and it is music to my ears when I hear them recommending good books to each other and to me!

Each year my students do a historical fiction unit revolving around World War II and the Holocaust. We are immersed in books around the time period and I have observed this being a favorite unit of most of my students. As an end to our unit, we create engaging stations that allow students to dive deeper into World War II and the happenings at the time. We also use virtual reality to bring events and locations to life.

One station is a virtual tour of Anne Franks Annex. This is always one of the students favorite stations to explore. One thing missing from our amazing unit is The Diary of A Young Girl. Her incredible journey and ability to document her life is something that needs to be shared. I have countless students asking for her book and would love to be able to share her story with everyone. Along with her diary, I would love to have a few other options to reach all abilities of readers in my classroom.
