This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our elementary library is seeking funding to acquire the complete set of Dork Diaries books, a series beloved by young readers for its relatable characters, humorous storytelling, and engaging diary-style format. These books are particularly popular among upper-elementary students, especially reluctant readers, as they address universal themes like friendship, self-discovery, and overcoming challenges in a way that is both entertaining and empowering. This project, Diaries of Discovery: Adding the Complete Dork Diaries Collection to Our Library, aims to encourage more students to read for pleasure while developing empathy and resilience through relatable narratives.

With many of our students coming from underserved communities, access to high-interest books like Dork Diaries is essential in fostering a love of reading.

By funding this project, you will help us provide our students with stories that resonate with their experiences and inspire their imaginations. This collection will not only enhance our library but also create opportunities for meaningful connections between students and books, building a foundation for lifelong literacy.
