This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from the east side of Las Vegas are full of creative go-getters that emphasize the "nothing will stop me" mentality. They love figuring out different ways to handle challenges and obstacles and get creative in their teamwork. There truly isn't a day that I'm not proud of them and what they're capable of.

My students are extremely grateful for any resources they are provided at school and many have expressed a deeper interest in exploring more creative fields throughout their educational journies.

Every student that comes through our doors is challenged to dive into a new way of learning through creative curiosity, differentiated strategies, and teamwork and is constantly surpassing any expectation of what a child is capable of doing! They are the most amazing group of students I've ever had the pleasure of teaching and I look forward to more of their ingenuity and unwavering determination.

My Project

My project involves ballet barres that will help students build higher-level dance knowledge while increasing their technical skills. These resources will promote Nevada Academic Content Standards and fulfill a COVID-related learning need in my class by providing students opportunities to master a variety of dance techniques including ballet, jazz, and modern while utilizing proper alignment and increasing strength and flexibility skills.

Having ballet barres will spark a studio-like passion and build a sense of community throughout the classroom that was difficult to achieve during online instruction.

This sense of community is critical to dance instruction and student problem solving because it allows students to work as a team and strengthen bonds inside the classroom. Standards that are addressed will be DA:Pr4.7.3 in which students realize artistic work through interpretation and presentation and the second standard is DA:Cr2.6.2 which involves creating dances by conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work.
