This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year art teacher, my desire is to open my students' horizons to different career paths that enable them to plug into their creative passion while growing in their profession. Seeing the world through an artistic lens and embracing their creative gifts will motivate my students to see a world where they can thrive. Giving them choices for their future and allowing them to dream big with their talents is what I am hoping for. Keeping pace with a generation equipped with tech skills alongside their innovative ideas in design will advance them into a future that can be promising.

In the last few weeks, I have learned about their interest to utilize various artistic mediums to produce designs that people could wear or use in their homes, work, or social gatherings.

Compelled to build on their artistic skills, I believe investing in a Cricut Maker can be a start to a successful learning experience.

With the Cricut Maker, students will be able to develop and sketch up their ideas, and then produce their work for the purpose of enhancing their innovative and design skills. To start, I would use the Cricut and its paper as a model to create templates for students to draft. As students improve their artistic expression, they will be able to fashion models for future projects, use vinyl, and exhibit their work throughout the school year. An example of this is the annual art show presented to our community. Your support in their learning experience will pave a brighter path into their future.
