My Students

I teach second grade in an awesome school district. My students have varied levels of learning. Our classroom has a very inviting atmosphere where all students can learn in their own way! We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving a free or reduced-price lunch.

Each student is unique and special in their own way, and I am amazed by their positive attitudes toward learning!

They are very kind to their classmates, loving to their teacher, and respectful to everyone they meet.

My Project

The books in my project will be used during D.I.R.T. time (Daily Independent Reading Time). I currently do not have enough books on different levels for my students to choose from. My students are having a hard time finding books they are interested in reading. Therefore, they are not excited about D.I.R.T. time. I know they want to read because they are asking if there are anymore books to choose from.

I chose the Guinea Pig Series because they are graphic novels and my students seem to really enjoy that genre.

My students chose some of these books themselves. For example my students really wanted Mac and Cheese, the Benny and Penny series, Silly Lilly, Big Shark, Little Shark, and Going, Going Dragon. Thank you so much for considering donating to our project. These books will develop a love of reading!
