Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredibly gifted and have so many abilities. Still, sometimes, they don't present themselves with confidence, and we want to kick off the school year 24-25 by giving them space, the tools, and skills to share their thoughts and to become part of the school's decision-making.

We want the table set to decorate a room where we will hold our meetings and provide opportunities for students to engage in the mindset that their opinions matter.

We want the students to share their concerns and for them to create action plans for the school to run better. If students engage in decision-making, this will be a positive strategy supporting their attendance, academic growth, and social-emotional learning.

Having a welcoming space for them will make a difference in how they view themselves and their contributions to the school's decision-making. We envision having the chairs for the Students' Community Room where the students will meet and develop action plans to support projects to better the school and to support the students in building their confidence in expressing their voice and being part of who decides for them.
