Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our NJROTC come from all walks of life but have one common goal, to be the best that they can be and support others. I have seen them numerous times at 3 or 4 am without a single complaint, to assist in a community service project. Projects such as the Cancer Awareness walks, St Jude’s walks or a Highway clean up to name a few.

They enjoy potluck picnics to gather the families together to meet and enjoy building family unity.

Our program's mission is to instill in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. Our students have values, principles, and self-discipline. They promote positive, productive behaviors and provide a support structure that is critical not only in helping themselves but other students to avoid the use of drugs and live a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Our students are well-behaved, have higher attendance, are role models for the avoidance of substance abuse, have higher self-esteem, develop positive life skills, on average have higher grade point averages and graduate at a higher rate.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in our cadets' learning by allowing us to produce important documents for our cadets. For example drill team rosters, our cadet field manual, field trip forms, and other logistics paperwork. It will also help by allowing us to print reports that our student staff has to complete. All of our events rely on mandatory paperwork that has to be submitted to Miami Dade County Public Schools.

Our cadets are focused on leadership.

We volunteer in many community service events that require a series of steps in which it is essential that we have printers to produce all imperative paperwork. We use a SMEAC system. SMEAC stands for Situation, Mission, Equipment, Admin/Logistics, and Command. With this system, we organize all of the components that go into a community service event. SMEAC with other documents required by M-DCPS teaches our cadets the basics of organization, proper work ethic and responsibility. Printers will allow us to print said documentation.

Currently, we only have one dysfunctional printer with a faulty paper tray. This makes it difficult to have the required paperwork ready for an event, which on numerous occasions has deterred us from attending them.
