My Students

I'm currently a first grade teacher. My school provides education to the children in the community of East Harlem in New York City. It’s also a title one school in New York City. This school year I am teaching the first graders remotely. I am requesting books to help for my distance learning scholars. It would benefit them to succeed as readers and writers. I am putting together a selection of books that will help them when we meet for guide reading this school term 2020-2021.

The area where the school is located had the highest rate of COVID-19 virus in New York City.

The books will provide them with the opportunity to perform their academic skills for the school year and their future. The mission in our school is for all scholars to graduate from college. As such we address our students as scholars and teachers as professors. So this year my first grade class will be the graduating class of 2036. As a result, we need books for the scholars at my school.

My Project

The scholars will be detective readers and continue to enhance their reading with these collection of books. They will also use their reading strategies to solve their comprehension. Every scholar will be a Sherlock Holmes and thankful for the opportunity to discover the new books in class.

During our independent reading the scholars will be able to enjoy a new adventure in each book.

It will also help my scholars to continue to be stronger readers. The books will keeps the scholars interest and this will increase their reading ability to read more.
