This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I've a new Math program that's intended to be used in a high tech classroom. I've a desktop in the class but I'm not able to hook it up to the projector in the front of the class. What ends up happening is I have to borrow a laptop from the mobile computer lab, which is very inconvenient.

I am very fortunate to be teaching a wonderful and diverse group of second graders.

They come from different parts of the world, bringing with them a variety of languages and cultures. Most of them are second language learners. And all of them enjoy Power Point Presentations.

My Project

Video games and t.v. have taught this new generation of students to be more techno-savvy and they expect their learning to involve high tech lessons. This is exactly what our new Math program is all about. It has online games and quizzes as well as Power Point mini lessons. But in order for the regular classroom teacher to implement the program correctly, it is necessary to have a laptop or notebook already hooked up to the projector. In my case, I have to waste precious time borrowing a laptop from the mobile lab. And sometimes, it's not even available when another classroom has borrowed them already. Also, there's a lot of time wasted plugging the laptop to the projector.

I would really love to have my own laptop in the classroom all ready to go every day.

This would save me so much time and would give me a chance not only to implement the Math program correctly but I would be able to use the Power Point presentations for the Language Arts program as well. The possibilities are endless. My students would benefit in every way. A laptop would definitely be a blessing in my class.
