Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are a very focused, helpful and friendly bunch of teenagers. This is our 4th year as a new school, they have learned to adapt and be flexible. We are a small school, housed in a huge building, with 5 other small schools in it.

If you ask our students for help with something, they drop everything to be of assistance.

They are hardworking and they deserve the very best from us. I hope to provide them with the materials they need to be successful in their work.

My Project

Our students have not had much art in their high school experience. We are in desperate need for the most basic supplies. As our program grows, we will need to give them what they need. For example, when I began teaching them about design, I wanted them to draw a straight line, but we only had 5 rulers!

An art program cannot be successful if there aren't enough supplies.

That's where you come in. We are a brand new school with a brand new art program. Learning about a skill is not enough; the students need to be able to put it into practice.
