My Project

Every year my students and I implement a classroom economy. This includes jobs, earning money and paying rent for their seats. After paying rent my students purchase special privileges or items from our classroom store. They love earning and spending, and I love teaching them about budgeting and job responsibility. This year, I'd like to add something new: desk pets. Desk pets are small animal erasers.

Desk pets will enhance my students' classroom economy experience and they will take great joy in caring for their little eraser creatures.

At the beginning of the year, my students will have the opportunity to choose their very own desk pets. These desk pets will live in their "habitats" that students will keep on their desks. After choosing their initial desk pet, students will be able to purchase (with their classroom money) food and other accessories for their desk pets. Students will study and write about the habitat of their desk pet.

I'm so excited to introduce desk pets to my students. It will be motivating and engaging. Thank you for considering our project.
