Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Kindergarten in a high-need community. The children living in this community are faced with many challenges, such as poverty, obesity, crime, pollution, and health problems.

The resources are very limited in my school. We don't have a science or social studies curriculum to follow. Most of the supplies that I have, I had to purchase with my own money.

In order to teach about dental care, I need supplies. Children, especially five-year-olds need hands-on material. With the demonstration kit, books and puppets, my students will be able to really see the importance of good dental care. They will be able to practice proper brushing with the model. The puppet will make it fun (and less scary) to learn about the dentist. The books will give them good visuals of what to expect when visiting the dentist and how to brush properly.

Your help will ensure that my students will have a life long smile. Please help me teach about dental care in a fun way that children will remember. Thank you!
