My Project

Students in my school love to come to our school library and check out books. We are a highly diverse neighborhood school and one of my goals as the librarian is to have representation of all populations of students at our school. I want to build a community of lifelong readers!

When students see the characters in the stories they read are like them, they build a stronger connection to the story.

Students want to feel included and literature with representation is a great place to start. Circulation is increased when books have the representation of all populations and the more students read, the better readers they become!
