Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students - brilliant, curious, loving children - need engaging books at all levels that largely feature Black and Brown voices. These books will transport my kids to new places and new times, through new and shared perspectives.

Often, emerging readers have no choice but to read low-quality texts that bore them until their decoding abilities reach a certain point.

No matter where they are in their reading journey, all kids deserve books that spark joy in their hearts - high-quality literature with complexity, instead of overly-simplistic leveled readers. The books will draw them in, develop their literacy skills, and nurture their senses of identity and self-love.
