Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and they are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. They are also students who have special needs.
Parents do their best to provide the bare essentials that their kids need throughout the school year, but many times that is all that they can give them.
Many of the families have at least 4 kids in the school. It is a lot to ask a family to purchase materials when some of them cannot pay their utility bills. Although the parents and the school community do their best to provide for the children, with budget cuts, it is getting harder to provide them with tools for learning.
My Project
As winter approaches, my students will need hats and gloves to keep them warm as they walk to school. Most of my students' parents will make the best effort to purchase their kids coats for the winter. However, many of them will go without hats and gloves.
Many of my students walk to and from school every day.
Providing hats and gloves for my students will prevent them from getting frostbite or getting sick. It will also help them realize that there are individuals who care about their well-being. It is amazing what a gift of a hat and gloves can do for a child's out look about life during the winter season.
