My Project
Is capitalism good for the poor? This is one of the essential questions our 12th graders grapple with in their Economics class.
Matthew Desmond's book, Poverty By America, is a perfect vehicle for our students to engage deeply with this essential question.
And this year we are fortunate that Desmond is coming to speak at our school, making his book an even stronger choice for integration into our Economics curriculum.
As part of our unique "college in the high school" model, our students have the opportunity to earn college credit for work they do in this class. This means encouraging them to dig deeply into complex issues, and Desmond's ideas will stimulate thoughtful and engaging discussions.
