Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the school social worker, I have the opportunity to be a change agent for the entire student body; for that reason, I welcome any student into my space. Often times, students just need to know there is someone who is willing to listen.

Every student who enters my space reaches for the basket of sensory and fidget items; most students ask to take something with them to use throughout the day.

Having access to sensory and fidget items allows students to feel a sense of security that adds to level of trust needed for them to feel safe enough to be vulnerable.

Having a plethora of items from which to choose will help me to foster an environment of safety and trust and will contribute to the work my school community has established for this year.
