My Project

In recent years reading proficiency has fluctuated in schools. This has not always been positive. Reading comprehension is an important focal point at all grade levels. My classroom is a bilingual class, and we need to help students with reading acquisition in both the native language and the target language.

Students need to be provided multiple opportunities to practice reading skills in a dedicated space.

I plan to use the bookshelf and seating to create a dedicated and inviting space for my students to read. They will spend 20 minutes a day reading so I want to give them a comfortable place to read so that they are encouraged to continue to read more. This dedicated space will also encourage them to build their reading stamina and increase their independent reading time.
