This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The specific items we are requesting, including the DNA typing kit and snacks, will make a significant difference in our students' learning by providing hands-on, interactive experiences that bring science to life. The DNA typing kit will give our students the opportunity to engage in a practical exploration of how DNA functions, introducing them to concepts like genetic coding and inheritance in a tangible and accessible way. This type of interactive activity is especially important for my SPED students, as it caters to diverse learning styles and allows them to better grasp abstract scientific concepts through real-world applications. The snacks will play a vital role in keeping students motivated and focused during the lesson, ensuring they have the energy and concentration needed to actively participate and stay engaged throughout the project.

My goal for this project is to foster curiosity and confidence in my students while providing them with the opportunity to explore science in a way that feels meaningful and empowering.

Beyond learning about DNA, this project aims to cultivate critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. My students are truly special because they come to class every day ready to overcome challenges and celebrate their successes, big or small. They thrive when given opportunities to explore subjects in innovative ways that honor their strengths and accommodate their needs. This project will not only enhance their understanding of science but also help build their self-esteem and excitement for learning. By bringing these resources into our classroom, we can create an enriching and inclusive environment where every student feels supported and capable of success.
