This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With so much emphasis being put on the Science of Reading and the knowledge of how we know the brain learns to read, I would like to provide my students with more decodable books. We also need more knowledge on what proper reading instruction looks like and how that should take place in the classroom.

One way to help my students enjoy decodable books is to be able to print them and have them keep them as their very own.

We will also be equipped with the proper knowledge of how to pick the best books that will be appropriate for the skills we are learning and grade level along with interventions and enrichments for each student.

This will help them enjoy coloring them, taking them home and reading them to their family, and just knowing that they have ownership of their own books.

I am striving to find new ways to help students love reading and the process that it involves. I hope to have decodable books of different genres and interests but still first-grade-appropriate.

Mrs. Putnam will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 18.
