My Students
The students at my school are a diverse group of young strong minds. They are growing up in Harlem, a changing and beautiful community. They are curious and and open minded. Our school is a PreK-8th grade school full of siblings and generations of love.
In many ways, they have the world at their fingertips; a swipe of the metrocard and they can see "the greatest city in the world." They've experienced a lot.
Like all children, they are learning to process so much information and calibrate it in meaningful ways.
My Project
These gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers will allow me to purchase Fun Phonics Decodable Readers for my Kindergarteners. The books will give them the opportunity to practice the phonics skills they are learning in our Fundations Phonics program. It will allow the students to transition phonics learning to reading books with intentional texts that match the skills they've learned.
Decodable books are books that contain only the spelling/sound patterns of English that the students have learned.
This bundle of printable books will allow me to print and create books that match each students' needs to practice in school and at home.
