Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Decision Day is a nationally celebrated event and takes place on our campus every May to congratulate our 12th grade students for their commitment to their higher education or vocation. This year is extra special because these students began their high school education online from home during the pandemic. Despite dealing with grief, isolation, and mental health issues, our students persevered. We are also excited for our first cohort of Early College Academy (ECA) students to graduate. ECA is a dual-enrollment program that gives our students the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits and their AA degree upon graduating high school. They have worked diligently to balance both high school and college courses, while being the leaders of our campus in sports and extracurriculars.

My vision is to recognize these hard-working, ambitious, and upstanding students who are committed to their higher education, A-G completion, and vocation through this project.

Items in this project will be gifted to students during the event as a reward and fulfill basic/ practical needs. This tradition inspires students in 9th-11th grade to also develop strong scholarly habits and pursue high academic achievement.
