This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
To truly excel in geometry, students need more than just traditional textbooks and worksheets. They need tools that can help them visualize concepts, track their progress, and receive immediate feedback. That's why we are seeking your support to bring an iPad and Apple Pencil into our classroom. With an iPad, students can use specialized apps to collect and analyze geometric data. For instance, they can measure angles, plot points, and explore transformations interactively. This immediate data collection allows them to see the effects of changes in real-time, deepening their understanding of geometric principles.
I will be able to provide students with instant feedback on their work through interactive apps and online assessments.
Apps like GeoGebra and Desmos offer powerful, user-friendly tools for constructing geometric figures, solving problems, and exploring mathematical concepts. These tools help students visualize abstract concepts and test their ideas in ways that paper and pencil simply can't. Instead of waiting for a teacher's review, they can quickly see where they made mistakes and how to correct them, fostering a more dynamic and responsive learning environment. I also plan to use the device to record and upload videos for scholars to access to review their lessons and theorems. Scholars must internalize and apply the geometric theorems to write proofs. Scholars will receive feedback not only on their algebraic and geometric knowledge, but on their writing skills to defend their arguments.
