We have inspired our students with technical leadership through our fundamental mission as a Leader In Me school.
Here at our elementary school, we believe every student has has the potential to be a leader.
We want to inspire an underprivileged minority community that would benefit from the exposure of engineering and software practices in order to develop the means to effectively collaborate in an ever diversified engineering field.
Part of our goal is to remove the stigma that engineering is for the white affluent suburban communities and for those who believe that engineering is for the socially unpopular. This would help us maintain and achieve the progress we as a school have made in instilling the CORE values and gracious professionalism from First Robotics.
Most importantly, we are disproving the notion that Urban Public Schools are unable to provide coding and engineering team building practices by encouraging our disadvantaged community with their ever increasing curiosity to tinker with technology by giving them ownership of their learning.

With the "MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Sets" and the EV3 expansion packs, we are bringing 21st century education to our classrooms with a promising implementation of an engineering curriculum here at Darwin Elementary.
The "MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Sets" gives students a very user friendly and beginner friendly approach at coding. Students will be coding in a graphical interface and the coding language known as LabView. LabView is an engineering industry language for functional engineers.
In this ever evolving world being technology literate would not only prepare students for the workforce, but would allow students to further their engineering interests. That is what the "MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Sets" would be a catalyst for. Exposure to interactions with updated technology will not only increase their technology literacy but as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
