This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At the beginning of a school year, in the middle of a concentric circle, one will find my EL high school students holding their varying levels of comfort.

We are accountable to identify students' potential and to move them into the next ring of the concentric circle of their academic and personal growth.

It is exciting to encourage young adults to find their way as recent arrivals to Minneapolis by stretching their experiences into this ring.

We must dare to grow!

My Project

A self-selected group of staff at WIHS will come together for personal and professional development through Brene Brown's online Courage Works' course called "Daring Classrooms, Schools Rising." Brene Brown tells us, "Daring Classrooms | Schools Rising" is an evidence-based leadership program committed to changing how we show up as leaders in education." It is this team's intent be creative, innovative, and learn as leaders to rethink the way we teach and learn. As staff move through the course together, we will engage in online lessons as well as participate in the course's required readings: "Daring Greatly" and "Rising Strong" through discussions and conversations. Members of this “Daring Team” will hold each other accountable for self and student growth. Together this team will hope to "promote accountability, trust, and innovation."
