My Students

My student's attend the Pre-K 3 6:1 class. I just started to get to know them, but I know they would benefit from specific toys to help target their speech goals. I have one student that would benefit from switch activated toys, however they are very expensive and range from 50-100 dollars a piece. The switch is $135.00. Other kids would benefit from cause and effect toys. Additionally, a lot of my kids will be utilizing PECS which I print, laminate and create their materials. All of this stuff is becoming very expensive and I want to give my students everything they need and more to succeed in communicating.

My Project

These materials will allow my students to learn to communicate and give them a voice. For example a switch allows a child to hit the button and a toy is then activated. This is the first step to utilizing an assistive device to communicate. A lot of my therapy is play based because kids learn best through play. They are also more motivated through play. I included some feeding resources. A lot of my students are failure to thrive due to low weight. They have difficulty managing certain foods because of oral motor weakness.
