Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students LOVE to dance and only have a short 40 min class once a week in a class of 25+ kids. Given that most of my students are unable to afford their own real dance shoes, I try my best to give them the most authentic experience by providing dance sneakers for them. However, the laces they come with are flimsy, waste a lot of learning time and cause safety issues for my students that haven't quite mastered tying their shoes. The elastic shoe laces would allow every student to use dance sneakers since they can be slipped right on. The laces would also help the shoes last longer and protect students from tripping while they are dancing since shoes often come untied.

The hooks, shoe organizers, and floor stickers are ideal for helping keep the class organized so students can be self sufficient when preparing themselves or cleaning up at the end of class.

Students can easily find their shoes and their seat without the assistance of the teacher because they are organized by colors and numbers in their shoe closet. This small act would grant them classroom independence and boost their confidence because they are not worried about taking class time when asking to tie their shoes. They would also be able to engage in more activities because we currently spend about 10-15min per class just on shoes.
