My Students

"Dance like nobody is watching" I love watching my students blossom on their journey from being shy and timid to confident and poised on the stage.

Students immerse themselves a multitude of ways that push them to new limits and challenge them physically and emotionally.

My beginning dance class is one of my favorite classes to teach because I have students from all walks of life come through the doors; diverse backgrounds and diverse capabilities. I have an amazing relationship with our Special Education department I have students with Intellectual Disabilities taking my classes too! The immersion experience is an incredible learning platform for all people involved, myself included! My students are eager learners who are diverse culturally and socio-economically. Our school is a college preparatory high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is high-demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated low socio-economic status and we are deemed a Title 1 school.

My Project

I want to incorporate more gross motor movement activities for my students with Intellectual Disabilities. In order to do this, I need supplies for my classroom. I would like to have pinky balls, bouncy balls, basketballs to achieve this. Additionally, I am going to be choreographing a dance that involves lab coats as the costumes. My students not only love to learn the choreography, but putting them in matching costumes is "icing on the cake". The dance truly comes together. I also want to use the basketballs as props for a dance.

Please consider donating to this project so I can better support all of my students who come into my classroom with a vast array of abilities.

Seeing my students come alive on stage through dance movement is a priceless experience and I just know that being able to support all of my students' learning will help grow my dance program. Thank you, in advance, for contributing.
