Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, artistic, energetic students from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status. They are between the ages of 6 and 8. Many times 75% to 85% of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch.

My classroom has a mixture of students from ESE to Gifted to ESOL.

My English as a Second Language Learners are between Levels 1-4, and my many of my ESE students have a variety of learning accommodations and although sometimes struggle, they never give up and every one of them is full of potential and eager to learn! It's my job to ensure that they have all the tools they need to succeed!

My Project

Giving each student their very own Daily Math Practice journal will help them take ownership of their learning. The journals provide 35 weeks additional practice for each of the first grade Math standards and operations. Each problem challenges the student to think and solve the problems on their own.

These interactive Math journals are a quick, fun, and challenging way to get the students involved and thinking about the Math concepts and strategies we are learning.

I will use them daily as a quick practice to reinforce the standards and strategies being taught. It will part of our classroom routine. The activities are short and appealing. They also help the students develop their Math vocabulary and literacy This makes an excellent additional resource for our classroom!
