CVHS Outdoor Classroom

My Students

My students are creative, innovative, and fun! Our school is a small GT magnet that pulls from the entire district so we have students from all over the city representing each community. Because entrance is determined by lottery I am excited to meet the new faces each year that will become part of the "crash" (our mascot is the rhinoceros so that's what we call the CVHS family).

Every student comes to CVHS with a different background and middle school experience and it is our job to respect that as we create welcoming and rigorous classrooms.

My goal is to create that type of classroom in our campus outdoor spaces.

My Project

If anything positive has come out of this pandemic it is that more and more people are seeing the value of time outdoors. Our campus has a green roof with an electrical outlet but there isn't a permanent classroom setup in this space. I'm hoping to acquire mobile equipment for use by myself and any teacher on campus that would like to utilize the outdoor spaces.

With the mobile easel I and other teachers will be able to hold class outdoors without missing any of the vital equipment I use to teach.

In addition, if I am displaced from my classroom I can still hold class with minimal disruption. Having this equipment on campus would serve all of our students.
