Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The best and easiest way to describe my students is that they are survivors. My class is a bilingual, prekindergarten classroom. I am charged with teaching them all other subjects in Spanish plus ESL. I have a class of 22 highly motivated and fully charged four-year-olds.

We have to try the impossible this year, teach four-year-olds during a pandemic.

My children and their families were hit hard by the pandemic. The majority of our families come from low socio-economic background. My kids are so curious and excited to be in school and do not realize that things are different because they have never been in school.

We do not want to burden our parents for any type of extra supply after what they went through. We are happy to be back in school, but we need some materials to replace what we used last school year. We hope these items would help our new students adjust to the huge changes in their little lives.

My Project

If this project can be funded it will allow my students to stay safe during this pandemic.

We will have some fun during this pandemic by coordinating our thematic units with masks.

The different kids masks will allow my students to express themselves and coordinate with our classroom themes. The keychain and class pack of travel hand sanitizer carrier will allow my students to carry around their own hand sanitizer. This will allow them to become more independent and to take care of their safety needs. The automatic hand sanitizer will allow the student to sanitize before and after leaving the small group area. The elastic straps for the masks will allow my students the freedom to lower their mask without losing it or not knowing how to put it on afterwards. This will help keep their little ears from hurting during the long school day. All of these items will not only help keep my kids safe but also have some fun during this pandemic.
