Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to create a safe and positive learning environment at our special education alternative school. I plan to use this Cricut machine and heat press to create wall decals, decorations for classrooms and sensory rooms, as well as clothing for our students. Our students come to us after struggling to be successful in a traditional school environment. Many come from low income families, are in foster care, and have endured trauma. I am requesting this Cricut machine and a heat press to provide a creative outlet for students while at the same time letting them take part in creating a positive school community. Allowing them to take part in designing and crafting custom-designed wall decals and decorations for our classrooms and sensory rooms, as well as taking part in creating a school t-shirt design will help to promote a positive school culture and enhance their sense of belonging. My hope is that these projects will help to foster a sense of community, something that many of our students have not yet experienced at school, so they see that our school is a safe, accepting, and welcoming environment.
