Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher working with the K-2 special education community. My position in my school is Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS Teacher). I provide services to children with special needs placed in a general education classroom. Most of the instruction that I provide to my students is teacher created in order to meet their specific needs. My students have difficulty with phonemic awareness and fundamental reading, comprehension, speech impairment, occupational therapy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and other developmental and physical disabilities.

What I love about working this population of students is seeing the impact of their hard work and the growth they make academically, developmentally, and behaviorally.

My Project

This printer will greatly support my students' learning. Because I am a special education teacher, I am relied upon to research and create my own resources in order to differentiate instruction to meet my students' learning needs. These teacher made materials are used as scaffolds for my students. I have burned through countless amounts of ink over the years I have been teaching and it is extremely costly. This eco friendly printer uses less ink for minimal cost which is perfect for making dozens of copies for my students on a daily basis.

I use my printer for daily instructional materials such as reading and writing checklists, math word problems, anchor charts, cut and paste activities, graphic organizers, scaffolds for math skills, and reading strategies.

With this printer, I will be able to give my students resources and make packets that will support them when doing homework and learning from home.
