Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is to request curtains for me to hang up in my classroom. Since we are a small campus, my room is always utilized for testing days, and we're required to cover anything instructional on our walls. Generally, I use butcher paper and tape it up. However, because the air conditioning is turned off over the weekends, the paper and tape inevitably falls down and I either have trash it and get more paper and tape altogether or re-wrangle the fallen paper and tape and hang it back up often. It is a pain, and I feel very bad about the amount of waste. Since one of my last projects gave me extra hooks, I can put them up on the walls and use them to hang these curtains! The curtains will effectively block any information that can't be seen during testing and will serve as a reusable, sustainable alternative to butcher paper. They'll also be immune to falling off the wall, as they're not affected by changing temperatures! The curtains I picked are flame retardant as well, so they are approved to put up on the wall.

The curtains also have the added benefit of making the walls neutral and soothing/ calming, which will definitely help my students concentrate and perform better during testing.
