My Students

Students in my class all live within walking distance of school but despite their geographical similarities, they represent a myriad of backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, language, and socioeconomics. At school, we focus on collaboration and find ways to work together to build a strong classroom and a stronger school community by capitalizing on the strengths that come from our diversity. We work hard every day to make our great school even better and more inclusive of our diversity.

My Project

Who says handwriting is dead? Not my students! This project will put cursive workbooks from Handwriting Without Tears into the hands of my eager 4th graders, who plowed through the first set of materials I gave them.

My students love writing in cursive and these high quality workbooks will give them the chance to strengthen their cursive skills while also learning grammar and etymology.

Recently, I've read news story after news story about the importance of handwriting including descriptions of studies in which students who takes notes with pen and paper perform better on quizzes than those who take notes on computers. Yes, technology is here to stay but handwriting is a skill that will never disappear and the use of high quality materials, such as those from Handwriting Without Tears, will ensure that these students learn the art form of cursive writing.
