Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English language learners excited to be respected and challenged. Once they have some basic skills they will have the confidence and enthusiasm to explore their learning environment.

Each student is unique and will learn at their own pace.

They learn to be responsible learners by using their classroom resources, peer teaching, independent work, following teacher's models, through trial and error, and most importantly, by accepting that it is okay to be wrong. We all learn from our mistakes. It is through our mistakes we learn to make small changes for better and bigger outcomes. Even more important is that my students gain acceptance of themselves and each other. They help each other become better students...better children.

My Project

Scholastic News Magazines will bring to world to our classroom. These magazines will provide nonfiction reading material as my students read about current events around our nation and around the world. The best element to these articles is that many are about children. My students can relate to these children's ideas and dreams.

These magazines will help improve my students' reading skills.

Aside from learning about current events, my students will work on skills such as main idea and details, summarizing, cause and effect, sequence of events, fact or opinion, and compare and contrast, just to name a few. They will develop these skills while learning about current events and working on child friendly, fun, follow up activities.
