Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a diverse group of inquisitive fifth graders who love to ask questions and investigate their ideas. My class is an inclusion classroom with a variety of special skill sets. I have mathematicians who love a challenge and then I have those who are fearless who although struggle will never give up.. and neither will I. We know that math is key to success along with reading and we all have our favorite topics. Whether it is multiplying, dividing, estimating or solving multi-step word problems we love a challenge and we use our strategies to help us.

During reading my class enjoys different genres and having opportunities to build movies in their minds through the author's craft of writing literature.

We examine these various styles and techniques and practice these methods through our own creative writing. Although writing may scare us we support and challenge one another. It's amazing to see where the bravery in our writing takes us.

My Project

The Chromebooks and headphones will help my students conduct research for writing projects, practice math skills using a variety of fun useful educational websites and applications, type their writing and go on virtual tours and field trips.

The scholastic magazines will be such a wonderful addition to our reading as they stay in touch with the world around them and engage in discussions.

The glue, markers, Kleenex, and Purell are regular supplies we are consistently running out of used for art projects and charts for daily mini-lessons. Students use the art supplies for math projects at the end of each unit as well as Social Studies.
