Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from the Los Angeles area are a bright and lively bunch of second graders who love to learn and ask questions. I want to teach lessons that give these children from all cultures and races an opportunity to learn and thrive with these interactive lessons.

My energetic students enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.

They gleefully read through the magazines, watch the videos prior to reading, and enjoy the supplemental activities throughout the lessons. They beam with joy when they answer questions correctly during the interactive portions of the program. They love to learn!

My Project

Second graders have such a desire to learn and are at a very curious age! Scholastic News has some of the best videos and photos of places and events that are age-appropriate and get my students pumped! The articles are leveled which will help me engage students at all reading levels.

There is so much happening in our world right now, and my students have questions that they can't wait to have answered!

Every Monday morning, I see hands shoot up whenever I ask how their weekends went. There are always a handful of students who want to discuss current and world events that they saw on the news or overheard when family members were over for a visit.

Scholastic News allows my students to participate and ask questions about current and world events with great visual supports from the magazine. The videos that go along with the stories activate prior knowledge which gets my students excited about learning!
