Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Grade 2 students are curious,energetic learners! They enjoy learning about various types of careers and community helpers. Questions abound in my learning environment,and I encourage my class to be engaged thinkers.

The students in my class are motivated,funny and thoughtful.

All students have gifts and talents to share within our community. They are learning how to self-reflect their progress,and provide feedback to their peers in various academic and social situations. In November,my students invited area veterans to a program that honored them. Students shared a poem,art work,and asked questions of our guests. This current project will build upon the community spirit that my students have developed.

My students needs these resources to provide a base knowledge of career and community service information.Students will understand specific information about various jobs and roles in the community. I included a veterinary resource as well to make a connection with our Humane Society community project.

My Project

My project will empower my students to learn about animals and the community around them. Using books,puzzles and inteactive resources,my class will gain a deeper understanding of various community roles and career opportunities. Reviewing vocabulary terms in a game format,role playing and reading about careers are examples of how these resources will help my students understand the world of work.

The Cupid Canine Collection will complement a local service project that my class will be involved in for the month of February.

Students have been reading about how our local humane society supports animals. We will collect dog supplies and toys for this organization. We wil also tour the facility,meet vets and various staff. A capstone to our project will be a meet and greet with a puppy! The project will make a difference in my students lives by encouraging a love of community service and respect for others. Your generous donation will empower my students to have a solid foundation of career and community helper information as they become change agents!
