Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Koreatown is a community with predominantly Latino students. Students at our school have a deep community bond with other students, staff, administration, and teachers. Since the school is K-12, students create a strong bond with one another from the first day of school, and this bond continues until their graduation. Students always support one another and through arguments become stronger.

My students are dedicated and hardworking.

They take care of each other emotionally and physically and also care for the younger students at the school.

My Project

My students enjoy reading books and discussing the theme, characters and plot. Now more than ever, they need to read books about characters that look like them and that are currently going through the same issues they are going through.

My students are dealing with a myriad of feelings such as anxiety, anger and sadness due to the current events.

These books will help them understand their moods better, such as where they are coming from and how they can live with them. In addition, my students will learn more about the current protest and learn how from these books to be more kind and welcoming.

Not only are my students going to be identifying with the characters they see in the books, but they will also learn to appreciate and accept their peers as well.
