My Students

In the light of recent tragic events, my students bring about hope for a better future. While they hail from all over the globe, speak a multitude of different languages and come from a wide array of economic situations, they work together in unity. Through playing in a band together they learn the values of teamwork, tolerance, understanding and loyalty. We see our wonderful diversity as an asset and a strength. I can only hope that they can carry this notion of setting aside differences to achieve unity into the future.

My students are energetic, determined and love to share their musical gifts with the school and local community.

They are truly a joy to behold.

My Project

For the first time in school history, general music courses will be offered to students not enrolled in performance ensembles. Our general music curriculum will be built exploring the music of various cultures through drumming, basic guitar and singing. The drumsticks will be used for our bucket drumming unit, the guitar strings will replace the broken ones on several of our guitars and the tubanos will be used along with other percussion instruments for our world music drumming unit.

Our sincere hope is to build cultural understandings among our diverse student body though the power of music.

Please help me engage my general music students in hands-on, relevant and fun learning activities.
