Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Cultural diversity creates tolerance. When students are raised in communities where they encounter little to no diversity they become ignorant of their world. As we know, ignorance breeds hate. I want my students to learn about a multitude of cultures from around the world.

Our school is an inner city school in a major urban area.

Students are in a high risk area. However, in the classroom is where the playing field can be leveled. Students, with the donations given, can be given a chance to afford the same opportunities as other students in more affluent neighborhoods and homes.

My Project

My students need a Macbook Pro laptop so they can research and showcase art projects that illuminate the culture of people from each continent in the world. They can research and learn about diverse cultures from around the world. We will incorporate art into our research. Students will create art projects that represent the cultures they have researched. The students will synthesize their information into PowerPoint presentations which will be created and presented on the MacBook laptop.

Learning about cultural diversity is important to creating compassionate human beings.

Art and education in the classroom is one of the best places where diversity can be taught. Compassion can be put into practice if one recognizes the fact that every human being is a member of humanity and the human family regardless of differences in religion, culture, color and creed.
