This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a dedicated second-grade teacher, I am deeply committed to providing my students with the best possible learning experience. One of the most critical skills our students must develop early on is literacy. It is the key to unlocking a world of knowledge and opportunities. This DonorsChoose project seeks to enhance the literacy skills, reading fluency, and vocabulary of my second-grade students through a multifaceted approach that includes acquiring diverse books and resources, along with the introduction of snacks and prizes to further engage and motivate our young learners.

Introducing students to books about national parks and states fosters an early sense of cultural awareness.

It helps them appreciate the diverse landscapes, histories, and traditions found within the United States. This can lead to a deeper sense of belonging and connection to their country.

These books often include historical information about each state and its national parks. Learning about the history and heritage of various regions provides students with insight into the cultural evolution and the events that have shaped the nation.

Incorporating books related to USA national parks and states into my second-grade class not only enriches the curriculum but also helps students become more informed and culturally aware citizens. By expanding their horizons and deepening their knowledge of the country they live in, we can empower them to become well-rounded individuals who appreciate and respect the diversity and heritage of the United States.
