My Students

The new school year is underway and already I have a wonderful problem - we need more books. Many of my students are avid readers and they are already requesting books. Other students have yet to fall in love with reading, so I am on a quest to find that perfect book for them.

My students are hard workers.

They are kind, compassionate, and fun to be around. While 100% of my students receive free lunch, they've proven that one's economic status is no indication of what can be achieved. This current group of students had 100% pass our state's standardized test last year and was recognized as one of two schools in Indiana to receive the National Title 1 Distinguished School award. I am truly blessed to be their teacher.

My Project

We need more books, including Home of the Brave, Brown Girls Dreaming, The Fourteenth Goldfish and more. One of my main goals is foster a love of reading in all of my students. We spend the majority of our day reading and sharing our thoughts on what we are reading. To help some of my more hesitant readers, our classroom needs more books. I've selected a variety of texts that are sure to hook my students into becoming real readers.
