Students in my classroom come to school ready to learn and try their best regardless of the trauma they face outside of school. I have students that are displaced (without a place to call home), have parents and caregivers that are incarceration, food insecurity, and many other issues that 10 year old children should not have to deal with.
I want to keep school is a safe place for my students and I want them to have tools and strategies that can support their social-emotional needs.
This journals will help us to focus on positive strategies and techniques to help them thrive because only when these needs are met can they fully access their academic learning.
