My Project

Children develop compassion at an early age, making it crucial to provide them with lessons that foster empathy and kindness. To cultivate compassion within our school and classroom community, this project requests materials for creating supportive, customizable cards, engaging trade books that build compassion, and small treats that will be paired with the cards to brighten the spirits of our community.

Card-making kits and colorful children's books are tangible tools that help students build compassion, a skill that needs to be nurtured over time and remains essential throughout life.

Creating cards for community members who are recovering from illness, grieving, or dealing with tough situations teaches students to put empathy into action. These activities will help my students internalize the importance of small acts of kindness and the power of working together to support those in need. Stories and connecting with others builds compassion over time and helps students see the world and experiences through the viewpoint of others.

Success in this project will be measured through student reflections, group discussions, and observed behaviors that demonstrate empathy and compassion both in and out of the classroom. With these materials, I aim to build and strengthen compassion in my students. Thank you so much for reading and supporting classrooms like ours through DonorsChoose.
