Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Participating in this Professional Learning Community (PLC) will help me and a multidisciplinary team of teachers at our Title 1 high school implement key principles from Outliers and The Culture Code in our classrooms. Together, we will explore how to cultivate a culture of hard work and resilience, ensuring students see effort as the key to success. Inspired by Outliers, I will share stories and examples of persistence, helping students connect hard work to real-life outcomes.

Guided by The Culture Code, our PLC will focus on building supportive environments where trust, collaboration, and shared purpose thrive.

By applying these insights, we can strengthen classroom culture, inspire student engagement, and foster teamwork across our school community.

Using systems thinking from The Fifth Discipline, we will identify leverage points—small, impactful changes that promote perseverance—and avoid common system traps like “Fixes That Fail.” This structured approach will enable us to implement sustainable strategies that positively impact both students and teachers.

As part of this PLC, I will grow professionally by collaborating with peers, reflecting on practices, and adapting strategies to fit the unique needs of our students. We will measure success through increased student engagement, greater perseverance, and a stronger sense of community in our classrooms. Ultimately, these efforts will empower students to develop the resilience and work ethic necessary for lifelong success.
