Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a general education teacher of 15 wonderfully awesome three year old students. I love the fact that this is their first school experience and that I am a part of that.

Teaching my students is like taking a clean slate and filling it with knowledge.

I am amazed at how quickly the students grasp what they have been taught. They are like sponges absorbing knowledge, and once they absorb it, they eagerly put their newly acquired knowledge to work.

When I observe the students, I find their interactions and the relationships that they build with each other absolutely amazing. Their classroom world is a world that I hope that we all can experience one day. Their closeness to each other, their concern for each other, and their love for each other are signs that their best is yet to come.

My Project

I enjoy taking my students on book trips. We get cozy on the floor or on the bean bags and once we start reading, we get taken away by the story. My students love reading and they love being read to. I do not want that love for books to go away over the summer.

My students will improve their literacy skills, while going on a magical journey through words.

They will also be able to cuddle up and read with other family members.

The sight word cards will definitely help my students to learn more words over the summer. My students can use the sight word cards to search for similar words in the books. You will help my students to learn to appreciate books more.
