This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our old mailbox system is falling apart and needs replacing. This organization system makes it possible to get homework and notices to kids in a quick and efficient manner so that we can spend more of our day learning.

Our school is located in California.

We are a Title 1 school that is made up of a large number of English Language learners. Our first and second grade split class is full of enthusiastic kids who love school. The kids are at an age where they are excited to come to class each day.

My Project

This cubby system is quite useful in the classroom. It allows me, as a teacher, to load up everyone's mailbox with homework and notices during lunch. This cuts down on the time that it would take to wrap things up at the end of the day. We can then extend the amount of time devoted to instruction.

The mailbox system I have now has taken a beating after 10 years of teaching and is sitting in a storage shed because it is falling apart.

This wooden mailbox will last much longer. It will allow me to spend more time teaching and less time passing out page after page.
