My Project

Using glass orbs in high school photography can create a unique and visually appealing effect in your photos. These spherical objects can be used to distort, reflect, or refract light, adding a creative touch to your compositions.

While using the glass orbs students will learn how to choose a good setting or location for interesting backgrounds.

They will select a time of day that will show natural soft light or the harshness of a cityscape or structure. They can experiment with aperture, manual focus, light, and composition. The orb will offer different views depending on the distances chosen in each frame. Using a close-up shot where the orb dominates the frame or using a distant shot where the orb is a subtle element in the composition. The use of props to hold the orb in place will enhance the images. A reflective element can create a stunning image. Using mirrors, textured glass pieces, florals, and natural props can help guide the viewer into the image. Practicing with orbs is key. Experimenting and refining the approach to creating unique images with props and orbs will certainly more our students by challenging their creativity in every way. These images will be printed in a series for the students to enjoy after the unit is taught.
